Richard Geoffrey Champion de Crespigny was born on June 16, 1907 in Glenthompson, Victoria, Australia, son of Constantine Trent Champion de Crespigny (1882–1952) and Beatrix Hughes (1884–1943).[1]
Geoff was educated at the Queen's School, Adelaide, Geelong Grammar, then Melbourne University (Trinity College) where he studied medicine[2]. He undertook post-graduate medical studies in England.[3]
Geoff (25) married Kathleen Cavenagh Cudmore (24) (born on June 27, 1908 in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia; daughter of Sir Arthur Murray Cudmore and Kathleen Mary (Cavenagh) Cudmore) on June 10, 1933 in Adelaide, South Australia.[4] They had one son.[3]
Geoff enlisted in 1939 with the medical corps of the second Australian Imperial Force. He initially held the rank of captain.[5][6] He was promoted to temporary major on 30 June 1942 and to colonel in 1960.[7]
Geoff died on February 12, 1966 in Adelaide, South, Australia, aged 58.[3]
