Biography

Geoff Champion de Crespigny is an Anzac who served in World War Two.

Richard Geoffrey Champion de Crespigny was born on June 16, 1907 in Glenthompson, Victoria, Australia, son of Constantine Trent Champion de Crespigny (1882–1952) and Beatrix Hughes (1884–1943).^[1]

Geoff was educated at the Queen's School, Adelaide, Geelong Grammar, then Melbourne University (Trinity College) where he studied medicine^[2]. He undertook post-graduate medical studies in England.^[3]

Geoff (25) married Kathleen Cavenagh Cudmore (24) (born on June 27, 1908 in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia; daughter of Sir Arthur Murray Cudmore and Kathleen Mary (Cavenagh) Cudmore) on June 10, 1933 in Adelaide, South Australia.^[4] They had one son.^[3]

Geoff enlisted in 1939 with the medical corps of the second Australian Imperial Force. He initially held the rank of captain.^[5][6] He was promoted to temporary major on 30 June 1942 and to colonel in 1960.^[7]

Geoff died on February 12, 1966 in Adelaide, South, Australia, aged 58.^[3]
